You had the litter?....WOW wish I could do that...only kidding with ya.

Is the father a pitt as well? If so it just may change as they get older. If not then you better check where lil Missy's been party'n....lol

They're not purebred pitbulls. One of the parents had some sort of mix.

Please get your dog fixed.

Had litter of pups american pitbull, why do 2 have long hair?

did the daddy have long hair or the female have long hair they got from there mother and father

Had litter of pups american pitbull, why do 2 have long hair?

could be a recessive gene. they may grow out of it. You know like some cats do.

Had litter of pups american pitbull, why do 2 have long hair?

never ever heard of it or see it.some else is going on there...

Had litter of pups american pitbull, why do 2 have long hair?

it's probably due to it's genes, their grand parents or great grand parents, are probably mixed breeds and some of the puppies got that gene. so it's nothing to worry about. unless they're having difficulty in breathing then you should go to the vet

Did you know that a female dog puppies can be fathered by more than one dog. Is it possable that your dog could have been gotten to by another male. And I would never say any thing mean I going to breed my Batman, pit bull, so a woman I know can use the puppies to trian as severs dogs because mine is so great

HAHAHhaha...You got MUTTS!!!!!!!! serves you right!

Had litter of pups american pitbull, why do 2 have long hair?

Looks like you got yourself a litter of mutts! More than likely one of the parents is not really purebred.

It IS possible she could have been bred by two different males if you were not responsible with watching her. You can have them DNA tested, along with the parents, to figure out which is which..

    3. i was actually looking at this because my miniature pitbull has long hair and is one out of two in the litter that have it. the rest are short haired. still resembles the pittbull breed but longer hair. but honestly most of the dogs ive had were mutts. for instance my most loving and most loyal dog is a mix of rotweiler and pittbull from his dad and yellow lab and pittbull from his mother. he was always easy to train and i even trained him for things like searching for people lost in the vast amount of woods at my mothers property. so condemning mutts is an ass hole thing to do and this person never asked for you all to be ass holes. and was by far not rude about it. if you dont have anything helpful to say why bother typing something rude.

    6. I know I am late but... does the long hair occur down the spine? Or was your dog born in the summer b/c it may just be a seasonal coat change. Also if some one wasnt having puppies all these hypocrites would have cats.

    1. FGF5 Causes long hair to occur within a dogs genetic code, both parents would of had to pass that gene down if only one of the parents do, the long hair does not occur

  5. Yea I just had another litter and in every litter I've had there's always at least one with longer hair I've noticed the ones with longer hair tend to grow taller its just that their body hasn't stretched out yet cause I too breed not a backyard breeder have a respected kennel paper's, generations etc. No mixed breeds even though pit bulls are generally a mixed breed, don't worry about the slightly longer hair as long as it doesn't hang or real shabby you have a pit bull fuck what the haters wanna say those type are know it alls and basically don't know shit, and try to make themselves feel good by down rating someone else because inside they're empty and worthless

    1. Thank you so much. I had the same question but I don't know the parents of the pup that rescue that was left on purpose at a local park. There will always be hater or internet bullies. He was just asking for help not insult.

  11. I just had a litter of ten and the turned out with a little longer for they will be seven weeks in a couple days and the are thinning just a little. I've been breeding the same blood for twelve generations now so I know my breed well and am positive nothing touched my bitch except my sire not sure how they will turn cause it's a first but curious to see. To the original writer asking the question as long as your absolutely sure of and know your breed I wouldn't worry to much

  14. You are just on point. This is what happened in my case. The bitch is APBT while the father is a Stafforshire. Like 2 out of 8 got long hair (fur) and are more receptive. I hope they will out grow the long hair.

    1. There is a recessive gene that both parents have to have to even have the possibility of a long hair pup. It is natural but is not considered standard to the breed. I am paraphrasing an article I just read when googled long haired pit bull
