Any hair care tips for growing/keeping long hair?

When I was young, my hair was waist length and I would love to get that back. I've been trying to grow my hair longer now for several years, but not much luck. I'm trying to keep it braided, and regularly (every 3-5 months) trim off dead ends. Anything I'm doing wrong? Is there a way to care for it better without having to keep it braided? I'm not interested in getting extensions.

How long is your hair now? Normal rate of growth is around 1/2 inch a month.... For starter's don't cut !!!! Salons want you to have your have trimed often because they want your money.... Hair grows from the roots and not the ends... If you don't have split ends then your hair doesn't need a trim.... Longer you can go between trims the longer your hair will get.... The more you trim the shorter your hair is going to get :o( Patience is Key !!!! No heat is a major part also.... That means no hair dryers, curling irons or products of any kind..... They are bad for your hair and only damage what hair you do have :o( As for split ends.... If you do have them trim only right about where is needed or do a dusting.... One of best ways to reduce split ends and breakage of your hair so it can grow long is let your hair air dry and then comb out.... DON'T brush while your hair is wet.... Hair is like elastic and when wet is more prone to streching out and breaking.... Try to avoid brushing so much.... Use a wide tooth comb.... Massaging your head will help stimulate your growth also.... As for braiding your hair it's ok if you don't wear it that way all the time.... However this will not help it to grow faster, just helps keep it safer from the elments of life.... Just watch not to lean up against anything with your braid, will cause damage to the unraveled pieces :O) Anywhooo.... Good luck :O) Just a warning though.... There is NO fast way to grow hair long.... It takes time and patientce.... O and again NO PRODUCTS they will only hurt your hair in the long term.... I use Redken Clear Moisture shampoo and conditioner and love it....

try trimming every 6-8 weeks or after you get a relaxer if you get one. i know it sounds crazy but the more you trim the more it grows. instead of getting braids cause they can be putting too much pressure on your hair try roller sets.

you should not keep your hair braided because it breaks of the hair keep it down or in a ponytail and put anything that has olive oil in it and try to stay away from alcohol products that makes your hair fall of.

do you pick out your hair or comb it? my hair stylist told me to always pick out my hair that if i brush it it breaks it off therefore the new hair that has grown after using a brush breaks off, and that will make your hair shorter.

i have the same problem.. ever since i cut my hair really short 6 years ago, i'm still trying to grow it back to waist length but it just doesn't seem to grow much and even its texture is different from what it was.. but i suggest trimming your hair every 6 weeks instead of 5 months.. firstly, your hair will look and feel better and secondly, your hair will grow faster that way..

If you want your hair to grow faster than usual you should use natural products like coconut oil. every day massage it in ur scalp.Make sure when you're washing out the oil you're using a gentle shampoo, even better a henna shampoo. When it comes to having beautiful, full hair my best answer would be henna. Make sure you don't use lemon or lime juice in your recipe when you make the henna as they can cause your hair to break if it's already weak. Rain water is usually acidic enough to get a nice colour out of the henna as well and won't harm your hair further. Try using the henna as often as you can it should thicken your hair and keep it healthy. If you don't want the red of the henna you may want to look for "neutral" or "colourless" henna. It will do as nice a job for your hair but without the colour. With the neutral henna you just have to mix it with tap water, this should be used as often as possible. If there are any skin problems on your scalp the henna or neutral henna will both help fight it

I am a stylist, and honestly, I know that you do not need extensions in order to make your hair grow. It seems like your hair is in good condition. It also seems like you have a healthy hair growth rate.

Braiding your hair is good, but I would alternate between braiding and not braiding it, so that your hair is not under constant stress and being pulled. If you cover your hair during the day, make you don閳ユ獩 wear cotton. Instead, wear something made of silk. Also, examine your eating habits, eliminate junk food, alcohol, and cigarettes. Drink lots of water and eat a lot of protein and leafy vegetables.

You can grow your hair back at a faster rate than normal, and recover from your hair growth plateau, without spending money on extensions. Plus, I have helped several clients who have not only had bad haircuts, but who have also suffered from hair loss grow their hair back without using weaves and wigs.

Lastly, I suggest you buy the best all-natural hair growth product you can find. The best one that I have found that works for all hair types is A Double Portion Super Hair Growth Shampoo and Conditioner. You can get them both online at www.discoverb4a.com. These both are hair growth miracle workers and are all-natural. No damaging chemicals, hormones, or surfactants like most commercial shampoos. Just to let you know, you should stay away from these. Most drugstore hair care products can damage your hair and leave it lacking exactly what it needs to grow. However, most of my clients that used A Double Portion had 1 to 2 inches of growth every month.

Stay away from heat, chemicals, and coloring!
