I Corinthians 11 in the Bible admonishes women to keep their hair long. What does this mean for blac

Do men really like long hair? How important is it? Do you think black women are beautiful?

It's true. It also says to not adorn yourself with costly array and to maintain silence during church. It goes on to state that a woman should learn in submission to a man and if they have questions, they should ask their husbands when they get home. Many people argue a silly point that this only applied to the Church @ Corinth, but the downfall of that argument is that in a few lines down it also shows how the church should be set up, and is still used to establish churches to this day.

The reference pertains to a time long gone. It's not important now!

What does this question mean? You sound like you're implying that Black women can't grow their hair long, which is ignorant (and obviously not true). Just like in any race, there are beautiful black women and there are ugly ones too. Last time I checked not all white women were pretty.

Do you for one second think that maybe rules have changed over time and that today's society is unlike the one in biblical times? I'm from Iraq and my anscestors were Christian since the time of Christ's death and followed the God of Abraham before that for thousands of years. Instead of focusing on little things that will benefit humanity in no way whatsoever why not try to focus on all the truly horrible things going wrong in human society today. What signifigance will this have on the world. Why don't you focus on the parts that speak of peace and try one act at a time to help people and maybe God will reward you more for that than telling women to keep their hair long.

Okay. First of all i'm a christian; i believe that the bible should be taken literally(obviously the dragon sweeping the stars from heaven isn't meant to be taken literally but you know what i mean.)

I believe that Paul meant it more as an attitude of deference toward God. I know lots of women with short hair that love God; it's more about your attitude than how you look.

God doesn't care what you do with your hair as long as you don't think about it more than you do him.

I wouldn't worry about it. And yes i do think black women are beautiful. I would kill to look like Halle Berry i think that she is gorgeous.

Good question. Our hair is like a headscarf. God in all His greatness gives us the ability to grow long hair just like when we use the headscarf to cover our head. Actually we do not need the headscarf. There is another part in the Bible which tells women to cover their hair while worshipping God. So if your hair is bushy all over, you can always use something to tie it and nowadays you can even straighten it. Some men have this fetish for hair. Naomi Campbell is a black supermodel. She is pretty enough. But God does not look at our outer appearance. He is more concerned with what is going on in our hearts. There is no point making ourselves look so good when God already sees the ugliness inside us. We cannot fool God.
